This loop is one of the most scenic gravel tours around Tramin – combining nature, silence and wide-open views with a special destination: the peaceful and remote Fennberg Lake.
Starting from Tramin’s main square, the route climbs steeply via Schneckenthaler Straße to St. Jakob and past the historic Rechtenthal Castle. A challenging ascent leads to the “Three Houses“, then continues on forest roads toward Moser Farm and onto the Zoggler Trail – also called the “Tramin Panorama Path”.
In Graun, take a break at the Lenzenhof – the views over the Etschtal valley are fantastic. Then it’s a steady climb via Fennhals to Oberfennberg and finally to the Fennberg Lake, the highlight of the tour: calm waters, forest surroundings, and – for the brave – a refreshing swim in the clear mountain lake.
The return leads through Unterfennberg, followed by a long (partially gravel) descent to the Hofstatt area above Kurtatsch. From there, the Runggner Trail brings you gently back to Tramin, mostly downhill through vineyards
Recommended equipment:
Gravel bike with a good gear range, helmet, plenty of water, and snacks. There’s no food service in Fennberg – bring a picnic. In warm weather: don’t forget a swimsuit!
