Tour description:
This medium-difficulty MTB tour takes you across four traditional alpine huts on the high plateau near the Weißhorn, offering wide gravel paths and panoramic views of the Rosengarten, Latemar, and the Dolomites.
The tour starts at the Bletterbach Gorge parking area, South Tyrol’s own “Grand Canyon”. From there, the route gently climbs through forests and clearings to the Schmieder Alm, followed by the peaceful Schönrast Alm, nestled among larches.
Continuing uphill, you reach Neuhütt Alm and finally Aurer Leger Alm, each offering scenic spots and a break from the climb. The trail culminates at Jochgrimm Pass (1,980 m), a panoramic ridge between South Tyrol and Trentino with 360° views over the Dolomites and Etschtal.
The return journey takes place via Grassnerwies – this time downhill, relaxed and with great views.
Recommended equipment:
A mountain bike or e-bike with good gearing is recommended. Wearing a helmet is mandatory, and cycling gloves are also recommended. Since it can get chilly at higher altitudes, weatherproof clothing is a must. You should also carry 1–1.5 liters of water. A stop at the alpine pastures is optional, but some huts are only open during the summer months.
