To the south of
Lake Kaltern

South of the bike region Tramin – Kalterer See, there’s the village of Kurtatsch which is yet another well looked after wine growing region along the South Tyrolean Wine Road. Both communities are connected in a friendly manner. And that’s not all, in addition to lots of natural attractions Tramin and Kurtatsch also share numerous hiking paths, cycle tracks and bike trails so you couldn’t possibly avoid getting to know Kurtatsch when undertaking an excursion in and around Tramin. And that’s the way it should be. Why don’t you visit the Museum of People Through Time for example or let yourself be overcome with inspiration at one of the peaceful places such as Lake Fennberger. Well-hidden on the Fennberg hillsides this place emits an almost mystical power. Amaze yourself!

To the north of
Lake Kaltern

North of Lake Kaltern, the two communities of Kaltern and Eppan will surprise you with their lengthy wine-growing tradition as well as some well-hidden treasures. Just as in Tramin, here the wine-growing influences the shape of the nature and the people. Time and again amazing castles, manors and palaces reveal themselves amidst the vines and apple orchards. Eppan offers lots of appealing departure points with the building style used in Überetsch, with the Montiggler See lakes and the varied hamlets. Those who would like to get acquainted with the market village of Kaltern should begin their journey of discovery at the marble Mary Fountain on the market square or the Wine Museum close by and may be positively surprised with how steep the cable cars rise which take hikers and cyclists up to the Mendel Pass.
