G-GE-04 Southern Wine Route Loop

Through the villages of South Tyrol’s lowlands to the language border at Salorno

Tour description:

This easy and varied loop starts in the village centre of Tramin and leads along quiet secondary roads through vineyards and orchards to Kurtatsch and Margreid. In the heart of Margreid, you’ll find the oldest vine in Europe, planted in 1601 and still thriving today.

From there, the route continues through the picturesque village of Kurtinig to Salorno, the southernmost point of South Tyrol and the region’s linguistic border between German and Italian.

Those interested in history can take a short walk up to the scenic Haderburg Castle, perched on a rocky cliff above the village.

The return leads through Laag and along the Adige cycle path back to Auer, before winding its way through vineyard roads back to Tramin.
