Tour description:
This scenic and varied tour starts in Tramin and leads through one of South Tyrol’s most beautiful biking areas: the Montiggler Forest with its two romantic forest lakes. It’s the perfect ride to kick off a biking holiday – technically manageable, rich in landscapes, and offering options for both sporty riders and relaxed explorers.
The route begins in Tramin, leading along cycle and farm paths through vineyards and orchards toward the Kalterer See – an ideal spot to pause and take in the view. From there, a gentle forest road climbs into the Montiggler Forest, where the terrain gradually opens up as you reach Montiggl.
You’ll then climb to some of the best viewpoints around the Small and Large Montiggler Lakes. In summer, these natural lakes offer a refreshing swim; all year round they’re a peaceful place to stop for a break right by the water.
The return follows a route via Langmoos, and the Kreithof farm, passing the Kalterer See once more before rolling back into Tramin.
Recommended equipment:
We recommend bringing a mountain bike or e-MTB, along with a helmet for added safety. In summer, it’s worth packing a swimsuit, as the Great Montiggler Lake offers a lovely swimming spot. You should carry about 1 to 1.5 liters of water for the ride; there are small refreshment stops along the route.
