This loop is ideal for those who want to combine cycling with a relaxed pace and beautiful views.
The route runs largely on flat, well-maintained cycle paths and offers a variety of impressions: green vineyards, well-tended orchards, and charming villages with a Mediterranean flair.
The route leads from Tramin via Auer into the Etschtal Valley, where you follow the river north. Soon, the imposing silhouette of Sigmundskron Castle appears above and to the left, overlooking the valley with its mighty crown.
The castle ruins are not only a prime photo opportunity, but also a historical symbol of South Tyrol. Those with time can plan a short detour to the castle (now home to the Messner Mountain Museum). The route then continues via Appiano and Caldaro back to Tramin, past old farms and through scenic vineyards.
