An experience for all the senses – discover, listen, be amazed!
Welcome to the Apple Trail Tramin/Kurtatsch – a thoughtfully designed themed trail that brings the importance of the apple for South Tyrol vividly to life.
At the same time, the trail leads through a unique cultural landscape where fruit growing and wine production have coexisted side by side for centuries. Whether in spring, when the apple orchards are in full bloom, in summer with lush green plantations, or in autumn, when apples and grapes ripen – the Apple Trail is a special experience in every season and is also pleasant to walk in winter.
With beautiful views over the South Tyrolean lowlands, visitors of all ages discover the fascinating world of apple growing. Those starting the trail from Tramin initially turn their backs on Lake Caldaro – a glimpse of the lake only opens up on the return route via Rungg.
The trail follows the delicate boundary between apple orchards and vineyards, highlighting what makes this region so distinctive: the interaction of two important agricultural traditions that together shape the landscape, history, and identity of the area.
Whether you are looking for a relaxed walk or wish to learn something new, the Apple Trail combines nature, knowledge, and cultural landscape in an enjoyable and easy-going way.
Directions
Along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, from Tramin towards Kurtatsch, shortly after the intersection towards Egna, a small path branches off to the left into the Brenntal Valley. This is where our Apple Trail begins, amidst apple orchards and vineyards south of Tramin. From here, the leisurely path leads through the orchards towards Kurtatsch. Along the way, magnificent views and numerous information panels invite you to linger and explore.
At 16 stations, trilingual information panels provide fascinating insights into the variety of varieties, sustainable cultivation, modern storage, and the diligence of the farmers throughout the year.
The easy route is ideal for families, school classes, and leisurely hikers. Cozy spots along the way invite you to linger – always with impressive panoramic views of the South Tyrolean lowlands.
