The hike from Gummererhof to the Göller Meadow is one of the most rewarding outdoor experiences in the Tramin area. After a short distance, the trail meets the Kalterer Höhenweg (Trail No. 9), where you turn left. Along the way, you’ll pass a small fire protection pond – a tranquil spot surrounded by greenery. From here, the trail becomes steeper and more demanding: a narrow path leads uphill over rugged, pale rock formations known locally as the “White Giants.” A short exposed section secured with a steel cable adds a touch of adventure, but it’s manageable for hikers with a bit of experience.

As you ascend, the view opens up again and again toward the south: Tramin lies far below, and on clear days you can even see Bolzano in the distance. The shimmering Lake Kaltern, framed by the Mitterberg and the ruins of Leuchtenburg Castle, adds a magical touch to the scenery. The path continues around the Göller mountain before reaching the Göller Meadow – a peaceful clearing with a fountain, rustic wooden benches, and a small shelter. It’s the perfect place for a well-deserved break. Just a few steps further lies the panoramic viewpoint – a place that will take your breath away. From here, you can gaze far across the South Tyrolean Lowlands and Überetsch, bathed in soft light and stretching far into the distance. The descent follows Trail No. 523, passing another small pond. Eventually, you reconnect with Trail No. 9, which leads you back south toward the Gummererhof – where a hearty local meal is the perfect way to end the day.

The golden hour, when the sun casts a warm glow over the landscape and the lake glistens like gold, is an especially magical time to be here. With a bit of luck, you may spot deer or hear the rhythmic tapping of a woodpecker. This hike is rated easy to moderate and is suitable for families as well as nature lovers looking for tranquility.
