If you happen to catch one of the rare days during your stay (in Tramin the sun shines nine months of the year),
when Peter opens the floodgates, here are some tips and pointers:
Sleep longer than usual – have a leisurely and hearty breakfast. Take care of the promised holiday greetings or any pending phone calls at home. You can get postcards with stamps, among other places, at the tourist office. Invite your table neighbors to a card game – time flies when playing cards, and it’s fun!
To visit
Wine cellars, Distilleries, Museums, castles, the cities of Bolzano (Ötzi Museum, Natural History Museum, Laubengasse, Runkelstein Castle, Sigmundskron-Firmian Castle), Merano (Merano Thermal Baths, Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, Tirol Castle, Women’s Museum) and Trento (historic city center, Buonconsiglio Castle).
And of course… our Hoamet-Tramin-Museum! History, landscape, economy, and culture are the areas of the Tramin Museum, with particular focuses on archaeology, contemporary history, viticulture, carnival, household, crafts, and geology. Also worth seeing are the large historical exhibition of Gewürztraminer from around the world and the 240-million-year-old footprint of an archosaur.
However, you are also welcome to discover other charming corners of the places around us:
Salurn (14 km) language border and Haderburg, Kurtinig (9 km) village at the lowest altitude in South Tyrol (212 m), Margreid (7 km) oldest vine in South Tyrol (planted in 1601), Kurtatsch (4 km) pilgrimage church and the mountain villages Graun and Penon, Neumarkt (4 km) historic arcade street, Kaltern (9 km) Lake Kaltern, Wine Museum, Mendel Cable Car, Eppan (16 km) Castle Hocheppan, Castle Boymont, Frangart (19 km) Messner Mountain Museum Firmian, Steinegg and Gummer (35 km) local history museum Steinegg and the observatory in Gummer
Shopping in Tramin and Surroundings
The merchants of Tramin are pleased with your visit, and your loved ones at home will be happy with a little gift.
Looking for local markets? Visit one near you!
Our weekly market takes place every second Tuesday of the month at the town hall square.
In the neighboring towns, the markets are held weekly. You can get a market calendar at the tourist office.
Or online for viewing.
Shopping in Bolzano
Through the fusion of German and Italian culture, you can experience a Mediterranean and Alpine way of life in the narrow streets and squares, a special blend of cultural, historical, and culinary offerings. Beneath the old arcades, there are also several shops such as fashion boutiques, mountaineering stores, as well as the well-known fruit market in the center of Bolzano. Every Saturday morning there is the large flea market at Victory Square, and on Friday the farmers’ market. The shops are also open on Saturday afternoons. Come visit!
