Guided Hike to Margreid

This varied hike leads from one wine village to the next along scenic nature trails at the meeting point of forest and vineyard landscapes. Along the way, you can experience the traditional wine-growing landscape up close, discover the dry-stone walls that have shaped and supported the slopes for generations, and gain an impression of the hard work carried out by winegrowers in the past and today.

The hike starts directly in Tramin. After a short ascent, we follow a forest road above the village and continue south towards Kurtatsch. Passing old farmhouses and historic residences, the route leads with gentle ups and downs to Entiklar.

Around midday, we stop for a break in a historic castle garden beneath ancient trees or, depending on the weather, in a cosy traditional inn. Afterwards, we continue along an old Leitnweg to the wine village of Margreid, home to South Tyrol’s oldest grapevine, dating back to 1601. The return journey to Tramin is by bus.
