Experience one of South Tyrol’s most historically significant hiking trails: the Dürer Trail connects the charming village of Laag with the panoramic hamlet of Buchholz above Salurn. Named after the famous artist Albrecht Dürer, who walked this route in 1494 during his journey to Italy, this hike combines the enjoyment of nature with cultural depth. Step by step, you follow in historical footsteps while discovering an impressive landscape between valley floor and mountain heights.

Route & highlights:
Our hike begins with the journey by private car to the starting point in Laag. From here, the Dürer Trail ascends steadily through varied vegetation – from Mediterranean-style slopes to shaded forest sections. The well-maintained path is lined with dry stone walls, old cobbled stretches, and repeatedly opens up to beautiful panoramic viewpoints.

Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Adige Valley and the surrounding vineyards. Informational panels along the trail provide fascinating insights into the historical significance of the route as well as the life and work of Albrecht Dürer.

A special highlight is reaching Pochi, an idyllic hamlet located above Salurn. Here, you are rewarded with breathtaking views and a sense of peaceful tranquility – the perfect place to let the impressions of this culturally rich hike sink in.
