Between the World of Numbers and Rock ’n’ Roll

There are sounds in Tramin that everyone knows: church bells, voices echoing through the narrow streets, the clink of a wine glass, perhaps an accordion playing somewhere in the distance. And then there’s that moment when a distorted guitar suddenly kicks in.

If that happens, chances are Ina Pross isn’t far away.

Behind the stage name is Ingrid Prossliner from Tramin. By day, she works in a world where precision matters: numbers, order and structure. By night, she steps onto the stage wearing red lipstick, a vintage look, rock ’n’ roll in her heart—and a voice that was never meant to stay in the background. At first glance, those two worlds might seem incompatible. But that’s exactly what makes Ina smile.

„Music and accounting may seem like opposites at first“, she says.

„but for me they complement each other surprisingly well. Anyone who wants to make music professionally today needs the same qualities required in everyday working life: discipline, reliability, accuracy and perseverance.“

Perhaps that shatters the old rock star cliché a little. But it is probably the truth behind every great performance: before anyone can feel completely free on stage, an enormous amount of work happens behind the scenes. Because Ina Pross is much more than the woman with the bright red quiff and the powerful rock voice. She is someone who has followed her own path for many years—between rock ’n’ roll, blues, soul and pop, between cover songs and original music, between South Tyrolean down-to-earthness and an international stage presence.

She has been performing for more than twenty years, taking her music far beyond the borders of South Tyrol. Yet it all began much more modestly—with a young girl from Tramin who had a remarkable voice but still had to learn to believe in herself. One of the people who made a difference was the Tramin blues band The Bethlehem Revival Band. The musicians welcomed her, believed in her and gave her the opportunity to gain valuable stage experience.

„I was very shy back then,“, Ina recalls.

„Their support helped me find my way into music.“

Perhaps that explains why supporting young talents has become so important to her today. Because she knows that sometimes all it takes is one person saying, “Give it a try. You can do it.” And perhaps that is why her own songs are driven more by conviction than by showmanship.

„Cover songs tell wonderful stories“, Ina says.

„But they are other people’s stories. Writing my own songs allows me to express my own thoughts, experiences and values.“

With “Mighty Queen”, she sings about courage, self-confidence and inner strength. “Girls Wanted” is her statement in favour of equal opportunities and the belief that talent should matter more than gender. And “Better Together” celebrates something that is especially close to her heart: unity and togetherness.

Perhaps that is what defines Ina better than anything else. Because behind the leather jacket, the guitar and the rock ’n’ roll attitude there is no carefully constructed stage persona.

„I don’t really see INA PROSS as a character“, she says.

„It’s still just me.“

Her stage name came about for a very practical reason: outside South Tyrol, the surname Prossliner was often difficult to pronounce. Ina Pross is shorter, more international and easier to remember. But the energy she brings to the stage, she says, is no performance.

„It’s simply the side of me that becomes visible through music.“

And perhaps every village needs people like that. Tramin is often associated with wine, beautiful landscapes, traditions and history. But a place is never defined only by what has always been there. It is also shaped by people who bring new ideas and fresh passions into their community.

„I grew up here and I’m proud of my hometown“, Ina says.

„Tramin is known for its wine, traditions and hospitality. But every community also thrives because of the people who contribute their own ideas and passions.“

Or, to put it another way: a wine village can certainly have a little rock ’n’ roll too.

On 26 August 2026, Ina Pross will perform at the Traminer Sommergenuss. A summer evening, a glass of wine, people coming together—and on stage, a woman who proves that music doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. What does she hope the audience will take home with them? Ina doesn’t hesitate:

„If people go home saying, ‘That was a really wonderful evening,’ then everything that needed to be said has already been said.“

And perhaps, alongside a melody that stays with them, they’ll take home something else as well: the thought that home doesn’t always have to sound the same. Sometimes it simply finds a new voice.

Update:

While this story was being written, Ina Pross continued to add new milestones to her musical journey. At the end of June, by winning first place at the regional final of the Sanremo Rock & Trend Festival, she qualified for the next stage of the prestigious competition.

Shortly afterwards, she received the 2026 International Special Award at the Je So Pazzo Music Festival, where she performed her original song “I Am The Queen” in the Grand Final in Rome. On 25 July, she also released her new album, marking yet another significant milestone in her artistic career.
