10:30 a.m. – Tour of St. Jakob Church in Kastelaz with narration of the frescoes by Hermann Toll in collaboration with the Association for Culture and Local Heritage

The most famous work of art in Tramin, and one of the most well-known in the entire country, is the small St. James’ Church, perched on a hill above the village. A Romanesque fresco cycle dating from around 1220 has been preserved in excellent condition.

2:30 p.m. – Tour and guided tour of St. Valentine’s Church with Jürgen Geier

The Passion Cycle in the St. Valentine’s Chapel, created between 1380 and 1420, is unique in the entire Alpine region. It depicts impressive scenes from the life of Christ, the legend of St. Ursula, and episodes from the work of the church’s patron saint, St. Valentine. The fully painted church, with architectural elements from the Romanesque and Gothic periods, is located amidst vineyards south of Tramin near the local cemetery. It is an art-historical gem that offers insights into the religious world and imagery of the Middle Ages. Immerse yourself in the world of art and mystery.
