Get to know our Hoamet and the Traminer.
The Hoamet-Tramin Museum, with its additional focus on “Life on the Border,” aims to demonstrate that the people of Tramin have created a prosperous and cosmopolitan homeland for themselves, despite, or perhaps because, they live on the border between three cultures, each of which has left its mark. History, landscape, economy, and culture are the areas of focus, with a particular focus on archaeology, contemporary history, viticulture, carnival, household, crafts, and geology. Also worth seeing are the large historical exhibition of Gewürztraminer wines from around the world and the 240-million-year-old footprint of an archosaur. The museum is located on the Town Hall Square and houses 11 exhibition rooms on three floors. Since 2007, the museum has been under the expert direction of Hermann Toll, who has contributed significantly to the further development and redesign of the exhibitions. The new permanent exhibition on the Roman period was established in 2021.
Hoamet is the local dialect word for home. Our Hoamet is located in the south of South Tyrol and thus on the southern border of the German-speaking area.
The museum is open from Maundy Thursday, April 2, 2026.
