Guided Hikes in the Mendola Mountains

Mendola Pass – Historic elegance meets alpine views

At 1,363 metres above sea level, the Mendola Pass was once a favourite summer escape for nobility. Even Empress Sissi sought the fresh mountain air and the wide-open views of South Tyrol’s southern slopes. Today, this scenic pass is still a place to slow down and take in nature. The Mendola funicular, the longest of its kind in Europe, takes you comfortably from Caldaro to the pass in just 12 minutes – a unique experience in itself.

Weekly guided hikes

We offer weekly guided hikes in the Mendola mountain range, tailored to the season, weather and the group’s fitness level. All tours are easy to moderate and take about 4 to 6 hours. Every hike includes a well-earned break in a mountain hut or alpine inn, where you can enjoy South Tyrolean hospitality and food.

Popular destinations include:

  • Überetscher Hütte – rustic hut below the Roen peak
  • Roen summit (2,116 m) – the highest point in the range
  • Penegal – with its panoramic viewing platform
  • Romeno Alp – idyllic pastureland and chapel
  • Gantkofel – optional for more experienced hikers

Flexible, personal & safe

Our hiking guides adjust the pace and route to fit the group and conditions. Your safety and enjoyment always come first – whether it’s a scenic loop or a more direct climb, the experience is adapted so everyone can join and enjoy the landscape.
