Program:

Wednesday Afternoon (Solo Hike):
Tramin – Kastelaz Trail – Kurtatsch – Rungg – Tramin with a visit to the Hoamet Museum Tramin

Starting from Tramin village square, the trail passes by the St. Jakob Church and follows the Kastelaz Trail, a comfortable forest path leading to Kurtatsch. You can briefly explore the village there. The return path takes the old road to Rungg, which is lightly trafficked and offers magnificent views of South Tyrol’s lowlands. You’ll walk through vineyards and historical farms until you reach Tramin.

Duration approx. 2/2.5 hours – Distance: 7.6 km – Altitude difference: 300m

A visit to the Hoamet Museum Tramin is available from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and includes three tastings of Gewürztraminer wines. (Reservation required!)

Thursday:
Neumarkt – Kanzel – Gschnon – Mazon – Neumarkt

This wonderful circular hike begins in Neumarkt. The trail passes through the village and leads to the Kaldiff ruins, a castle likely built in the 12th century. Through the Trudner Horn Nature Park, the trail continues through an idyllic forest until you reach the Kanzel viewpoint (970 m). From here, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the Etsch Valley, vineyards, orchards, Lake Caldaro, and Castelfeder. On clear days, you can even see as far as Bolzano. The trail continues through beautiful vineyards over Gschnon to Mazon and then back to the starting point.

Duration: 5 hours – Distance: 12,2 km – Altitude difference: 814 m

Friday:
Hike from Mezzocorona via the village of Monte to the Kraun Alm

This beautiful route, popular throughout the year, is the shortest walking path to Monte di Mezzocorona (891m). The newly built hanging bridge at Monte di Mezzocorona is a breathtaking experience. The structure is 123 meters long and stands about 130 meters above the ground. The steel cable bridge crosses the Val della Villa, offering stunning views of the entire Piana Rotaliana area. Another highlight not to be missed on Monte is the Skywalk, a viewing platform inaugurated in 2023. With a length of 17 meters, a glass floor has been installed at the most exposed point, 648 meters above sea level! At the top station of the cable car Monte di Mezzocorona, a forest educational trail begins, followed by a forest road. After about 1 hour and 15 minutes of a leisurely hike, you will reach the beautiful hut Malga Kraun. From here, a short walk to the “Candelabra,” an ancient silver fir, is worth the trip.

Departure by cable car from Monte to Mezzocorona (not included in the price!)

Duration: 6 hours – Distance: 15.0 km – Altitude difference: 890 m

Saturday:
From Mendel Pass to Monte Roen (2,116 m)

At the summit of Mendel Pass, the provincial and language boundary between South Tyrol and Trentino runs. The Mendel is a wonderful starting point for exploring the surrounding forests and peaks like Roen and Penegal. We will reach the Mendel Pass by the Mendel Cable Car, which connects the St. Anton district of Caldaro with the pass summit. It covers a distance of 2.370 meters, gaining an elevation of 854 meters in just a few minutes. At the pass, we begin our hike to Monte Roen (2,116 meters), a truly enjoyable tour to the highest peak of the Mendel Ridge. Once at the summit, we will take in the view of the entire Überetsch region and the surrounding mountains all the way to the Dolomites, before retracing our steps back to the Mendel Cable Car’s mountain station.

Duration: 6 hours – Distance: 16.3 km – Altitude difference: 850 m
