A distinctly aromatic hearty wine with a bouquet hinting at rosebuds and cloves. A wine sure to regale an aromatically spicy flavour, a full bodied backbone an intensive aftertaste. Appreciate Gewürztraminer wines with crabs, lobster or other shellfish. It is also the ideal accompaniment to curry dishes and the "Edelschimmelkäse" blue veined cheeses. Actually does very well as an aperitif or dessert wine too.
Production district: from Eppan to Salurn; principal production district: Tramin.
Cellar life: 2 to 3 years; serve between 10°C and 12°C.
A very quaffable, uncomplicated wine that is the ideal selection for a number of events and ideal for the every day occasions. Youthfully refreshing and pleasantly fruity it is also dry, soft and mildly tart. On the palate it is smoothly harmonious with a slight hint of bitter almond. The traditional South Tyrol Vernatsch is the perfect match for genuine South Tyrolean dishes.
Production district: Kaltern, Eppan, Tramin, Kurtatsch and Margreid.
Cellar life: 1 to 2 years, best appreciated when still young; serve between 13°C and 15°C.
Intense ruby red in colour with a bouquet of violets on the nose and velvety smooth, hinting at spices on the palate. This to aptly describe the Lagrein, unique in its kind, with nothing to equalit the world over. It does amazingly well with game and wing game, red meats and piquant hard cheeses. The Lagrein Kretzer or Rosé version is instead the result of white-pressing processes conducted prior to fermentation, granting a briskly stimulating taste that goes very well with appetisers, smoked fish, as well as white poultry meat dishes.
Production district: the Bozen valley basin and the Unterland and Überetsch districts.
Cellar life: 1 to 2 years for the Lagrein Kretzer Rosé qualities, best served between 10°C and 12°C; 4 to 5 years for the Lagrein Red quality, best served between 16°C and 18°C.
